When you're on a bicycle for at least six hours a day, you get quite some time to think. This is where Thoughts on a Bicycle originated. Enjoy.
Being on a bike for hours a day gives you lots of time to reflect. Lots of time, y’all.
Arden and I talk about pretty things we pass, where we think we might sleep that night, our daily lesson that we learned. Every day I have one really silly, random thing I ask Arden because he’s a walking encyclopedia (yesterday it was how spiders eat their prey, today it was what Hitler was doing during WWI, you get the point). We talk about the different ways of living we have seen throughout the country thus far, we talk about the freedom we feel being on a bicycle, or what a meanie head that person who drove by and flicked us off was (we get it a lot). Mostly we’re pretty silent though. Taking it all in. Then journaling every night to help process it all because it really is a lot.
I have always loved trying my hardest to live a life as presently as possible. And this is about as present as it gets. Day by day is an understatement, it’s really hour by hour. I’m grateful for a lot of things today; my health, my loving, patient, encouraging partner, and the unbelievable kindness of strangers who give me the utmost hope in society. Thoughts on a bicycle.
Love love love, sending it to y’all
